The Mumbai-based company plans to use the funds to accelerate fabric development, drive product innovation, and expand its offerings, according to co-founder Raena Ambani.
A Brand Built on Fabric Innovation
Founded in 2023 by sisters Raena Ambani, a sports engineer and national-level sprinter, and Rahee Ambani-Choksi, Terractive is focused on creating innovative fabrics tailored for active lifestyles. The brand’s proprietary materials include:
- Terrasoft: Combines a cotton-like feel with anti-odour and anti-microbial properties.
- Coolknit: Offers a cooling effect and a premium aesthetic.
These innovations align with the founders’ vision of blending technology and comfort in activewear. “We see ourselves as a fabric innovation company building for the active lifestyle that people have today,” said Raena Ambani.
Rising Demand for Activewear in India
Terractive is riding the wave of growth in India’s activewear segment, which is becoming increasingly competitive. Brands like BlissClub, Silvertraq, and Pace Active are also making strides to capture the market. BlissClub, for instance, raised ₹15 crore in 2022, reflecting the surge in investor interest in this sector.
“The activewear segment in India is poised for tremendous growth, and Terractive stands out with its innovation-led approach,” said Shuchi Pandya, Principal at Fireside Ventures.
Strong Performance and Market Potential
Terractive boasts a customer base of over 25,000 and reports a 25% month-on-month revenue growth. The company aims to scale up its SKUs by introducing more products within its proprietary fabric categories, enhancing its position as a leader in the activewear market.
The Indian fashion and apparel market is projected to reach $105.5 billion by 2024, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.35% through 2029, creating vast opportunities for brands like Terractive to expand.
