Orange Health Labs, a full-stack diagnostics platform, has raised $12 million in a funding round led by the Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund. The round also saw participation from existing investors such as Accel, General Catalyst, Bertelsmann India Investments, and Y Combinator.

Aiming for Faster, Better Diagnostics

Founded in 2020 by Dhruv Gupta and Tarun Bhambra, Orange Health Labs specializes in rapid health testing services. Its offerings include:

  • At-home sample collection within an hour
  • Report delivery within six hours, a significant improvement from the traditional 18-hour process
  • Extended operating hours until 10 PM

The company currently operates in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, which collectively account for 25% of India’s diagnostic market. Future plans include deepening its presence in these cities before expanding to other metro and Tier 1 cities.

Omnichannel Expansion and Financial Milestones

Orange Health Labs is also exploring omnichannel operations, with plans to scale its offline collection centers from 8 to 30 by the end of this financial year. In September 2024, the company achieved a ₹100 crore run rate, and its operations in Bengaluru became profitable in March.

Leveraging Fresh Capital for Growth

The newly raised funds will be directed towards product expansion, team strengthening, and further innovation in diagnostics. “Consumers value speed, especially in healthcare. We've reduced testing times significantly to meet this demand,” co-founder Dhruv Gupta emphasized.

Backed by Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund

The $250 million Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, launched in 2021, has been instrumental in supporting startups in sectors like healthcare, agriculture, D2C, gaming, and fintech. Its portfolio includes prominent brands like Acko, FreshToHome, and Cashify.

Speaking about the investment, Abhijeet Muzumdar, Vice President of Corporate Development at Amazon, remarked, “Dhruv, Tarun, and their team have built a robust diagnostics service, and we’re excited to back them for their next phase of growth.”

A Promising Future for Orange Health Labs

With total funding of $47 million, Orange Health Labs is well-positioned to continue its mission of transforming India’s diagnostic landscape by prioritizing speed, convenience, and innovation. Its focus on metro cities and omnichannel strategies aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality, rapid diagnostic services in India’s evolving healthcare sector.
