About
Thyrocare Technologies is a chain of diagnostic and preventive-care laboratories headquartered in Navi Mumbai. A. Velumani, a former Bhabha Atomic Research Centre scientist, founded it in 1996 with a thyroid-testing lab in Byculla, Mumbai, and built it around a franchise model that sends samples to a central processing laboratory. It now offers hundreds of tests and preventive health packages. CX Partners invested ₹188 crore for a 30% stake in 2010, and the company went public in April 2016. In June 2021 API Holdings, the parent of PharmEasy, agreed to acquire a 66.1% controlling stake from Velumani and his affiliates for about ₹4,546 crore.
