About
Sriharsha Majety is a co-founder of Swiggy and its managing director and group chief executive. Swiggy, headquartered in Bengaluru, runs food delivery in more than 700 Indian cities and the quick-commerce service Instamart. Majety, who comes from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, earned a BE in electrical and electronics engineering and an MSc from BITS Pilani and then a postgraduate diploma in management from IIM Calcutta. He began his career in investment banking at Nomura International, working in India and London. In 2013 he and Nandan Reddy built Bundl, a website meant to make courier and shipping services easier to book within India. When Bundl was halted in 2014, the pair turned to food delivery, recruited Rahul Jaimini from Myntra, and launched Swiggy in August 2014. Majety has led the company since, through its growth from Bengaluru to hundreds of cities, its move into groceries and quick commerce, and its initial public offering in November 2024, priced at ₹390 a share.
Under Majety, Swiggy steadily widened where it operates and what it carries. It expanded to eight large cities by 2015 and to roughly 500 by 2019. It started the cloud-kitchen brand The Bowl Company in January 2017 and Swiggy Access kitchens for restaurant partners that November, began delivering from local stores as Swiggy Stores in 2019 and launched the package service Swiggy Go, later renamed Swiggy Genie. The company converted to a public limited company in April 2024 before its November 2024 listing.
