Peyush Bansal is the co-founder and chief executive of Lenskart, the Gurugram-based eyewear company that designs, makes and sells prescription glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses through its own stores and online. Born in 1985, he studied engineering at McGill University in Montreal and worked as a programme manager at Microsoft in the United States through 2007. Returning to India that year, he started SearchMyCampus.com, a classifieds site for college students, and in June 2008 registered Valyoo Technologies at his parents' home in Delhi. After Amit Chaudhary joined him, the company tried a US eyewear site, Flyrr, before launching Lenskart.com in November 2010, first selling contact lenses and then spectacles and sunglasses. Sumeet Kapahi joined as the third co-founder in 2011. Bansal also completed the Management Programme for Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses at IIM Bangalore. He led Lenskart to the stock market in November 2025 and is known to television audiences as one of the investors on Shark Tank India.
In its early years Valyoo ran several shopping sites alongside Lenskart, including Watchkart, Bagskart and Jewelskart, but by the end of 2014 it had closed them to concentrate on eyewear, and in 2015 the company was renamed Lenskart Solutions. Its ₹7,278 crore IPO, combining a ₹2,150 crore fresh issue with an offer for sale, was open from 31 October to 4 November 2025. The shares listed on the NSE and BSE on 10 November 2025 at ₹395, slightly below the ₹402 issue price. Bansal, Neha Bansal, Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi are named as the company's promoters.
