Deepinder Goyal co-founded Zomato and is vice chairman of its listed parent, Eternal, after stepping down as managing director and group CEO on 1 February 2026. An IIT Delhi graduate, he was working at Bain & Company when he and colleague Pankaj Chaddah launched FoodieBay, a restaurant-listing site, on 10 July 2008. The pair left Bain in November 2009, incorporated the business in January 2010 and renamed the site Zomato in November 2010. Zomato expanded internationally, started food delivery in India in 2015, bought Uber Eats' India business in January 2020 and listed on the BSE and NSE in July 2021. In June 2022 it completed the purchase of quick-commerce firm Blinkit for $568 million, and in February 2025 the listed company was renamed Eternal Limited, covering Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure and District. Goyal received EY's Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2025. In January 2026 he announced that Blinkit's chief, Albinder Dhindsa, would succeed him as group CEO; shareholders approved his appointment as non-executive vice chairman in a postal ballot that closed on 13 March 2026.

In his letter to shareholders, Goyal said he wanted to pursue higher-risk ideas that were better suited to a setting outside a listed company. His unvested stock options went back to Eternal's ESOP pool, and as vice chairman he focuses on long-term strategy, governance and leadership development rather than operations. His newer ventures include Temple, which is building a wearable for elite athletes that sits on the temple to track cerebral blood flow; it raised $54 million in February 2026 at a post-money valuation of about $190 million, with Goyal leading the round. In October 2025 he committed $25 million of his own money to Continue Research, which studies ways to extend human lifespan, and he is a co-founder of LAT Aerospace.
