Bhavish Aggarwal co-founded Ola, India's ride-hailing company now called Ola Consumer, and founded the electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric and the artificial intelligence company Krutrim. Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, he earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from IIT Bombay in 2008 and spent two years at Microsoft Research India, starting as an intern, where he filed two patents and published three papers. In 2010 he set up Olatrip.com, a trip-planning business in the Delhi region, and in January 2011 launched Ola Cabs with Ankit Bhati in Bengaluru. Ola bought rival TaxiForSure in 2015, pulled out of the UK, Australia and New Zealand in April 2024 and was renamed Ola Consumer in August 2024. Ola Electric began in 2017 as a subsidiary of ANI Technologies; Aggarwal took a 92.5% stake around the turn of 2019, and the company raised ₹5,500 crore in its initial public offering in August 2024. Krutrim became India's first AI unicorn in 2024. Time magazine named him among its 100 most influential people in 2018.

Ola Electric makes electric two-wheelers at its plant in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, where it also produces battery cells. After the 2024 listing, it raised ₹780 crore through a qualified institutional placement in June 2026, and on 28 September 2026 its board approved a rights issue of up to ₹1,000 crore in which Aggarwal, as promoter, is set to participate. In April 2022 Ola told staff that Aggarwal would step back from day-to-day operations at the ride-hailing business to focus on electric vehicles and quick commerce. In 2024 Ola moved its cloud workloads from Microsoft Azure to Krutrim and replaced Google Maps with its in-house Ola Maps.
