Upasana Taku, co-founder of listed fintech MobiKwik, has bought 1.07 lakh company shares on the open market for about ₹2.1 crore, raising her holding to 10.24%. It is her second round of purchases since the December 2024 IPO, made while the stock remains below where it started the year.
Upasana Taku, co-founder of One MobiKwik Systems, bought 1.07 lakh shares of the company in open-market transactions on 28 and 29 September 2026 for about ₹2.1 crore, according to a stock exchange filing reported by Inc42, PTI and Business Standard. Her stake rose to 10.24% from 10.11%.
Per the PTI report, she bought 52,000 shares for ₹1.04 crore on 28 September and 55,000 shares for ₹1.09 crore on 29 September, both on NSE. Business Standard put the price at about ₹198-199 a share and her total holding at 80.65 lakh shares after the purchases.
Second round of buying since the IPO
In a letter attached to the disclosure, Taku said she has bought 2,94,177 shares in total since MobiKwik's IPO in December 2024. That includes 1,87,177 shares acquired in December 2025 and the 1,07,000 shares bought this month.
The purchases come during a volatile stretch for the stock. Inc42 noted that MobiKwik shares had gained 26.6% over the past six months but were still down 15.38% for the year to date. The stock closed 0.85% higher at ₹196.6 on BSE on 30 September.
Recent business performance
MobiKwik returned to profit in the April-June quarter. It reported consolidated net profit of ₹7.6 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with a net loss of ₹41.9 crore a year earlier, while operating revenue rose 3.7% to ₹281.5 crore. Inc42 linked part of the stock's recent gains to the reintroduction of a merchant discount rate on high-value UPI payments.
On the regulatory side, MobiKwik received in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India in May to operate as a physical payment aggregator. In April, its subsidiary Zaakpay ePayment Services received RBI approval to operate as an online payment aggregator.
The company has also faced scrutiny. In May, Bengaluru Police registered two FIRs against MobiKwik and lending partner Lendbox over allegations including blocked withdrawals on the peer-to-peer lending product MobiKwik Xtra. MobiKwik said it acted only as a distribution partner for the product, which Lendbox offered.
