Vikram Chopra

Co-founder and CEO, Cars24

Dual degree (BTech and MTech) in Engineering, IIT Bombay (2006)

About

Vikram Chopra is co-founder and chief executive of Cars24, the Gurugram-based platform for buying, selling and financing used cars that he started in 2015 with Mehul Agrawal, Gajendra Jangid and Ruchit Agarwal. Born in Lucknow and raised in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, he completed a dual degree in engineering at IIT Bombay in 2006, where he headed the student cultural festival Mood Indigo. He then spent close to three years as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company and about two years as an investment analyst at Sequoia Capital before going to the Wharton School. In 2012 he co-founded FabFurnish, an online furniture and home decor store, with Agrawal and Vaibhav Aggrawal; he and Agrawal left in July 2015 to build Cars24, and Future Group was reported in 2016 to be buying the FabFurnish brand. Under Chopra, Cars24 has expanded to the UAE and Australia and last raised money in 2022 at a $3.3 billion post-money valuation. In January 2026 he said the company aimed to list within six to twelve months; in September its CFO said it expects to be eligible to file a draft prospectus by April 2027, after moving its domicile from Singapore to India.

Cars24's leadership changed in 2026 as it prepared for a listing. In April, co-founder and chief marketing officer Gajendra Jangid moved to an advisory role, with Chopra crediting him with building the brand and the Crashfree product; at the end of April, co-founder and COO Mehul Agrawal said he was stepping down from his operating role while remaining on the board. Earlier, in 2019, former India cricket captain MS Dhoni invested in Cars24 and became its brand ambassador. Chopra has spoken publicly about his first venture, describing in a 2026 interview how a falling-out with a FabFurnish co-founder shaped the way he leads. He writes about the auto market and AI on his personal website.
