About

Varun Limaye is the co-founder of Mesa School of Business, a Bengaluru-based business school that trains young professionals for leadership and founder-facing roles in startups. He started Mesa with Ankit Agarwal; Limaye's own profile dates his time as co-founder to December 2022. In April 2023 Mesa announced a seed round of about ₹34 crore led by Elevation Capital, with angel investors including CRED founder Kunal Shah, Meesho co-founder Vidit Aatrey and Urban Company co-founder Abhiraj Bhal. Mesa's founding programme was a 12-month, full-time postgraduate course in startup leadership, and the school has since added an undergraduate degree in business management and entrepreneurship and a short residential programme for high school students. Before Mesa, Limaye was a senior product manager at Amazon, working in Seattle and then Mumbai between 2020 and 2022. Earlier he spent three years at Pratham Education Foundation, where he headed impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation for the non-profit's education programmes. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a mechanical engineering degree from Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Institute of Technology.

In September 2026 Entrackr reported, citing unnamed sources, that Mesa was set to raise around ₹100 crore in a Series A round, about ₹84 crore as equity and ₹16 crore as venture debt, and that Limaye was looking to sell roughly 2.9% of his personal stake for about ₹3 crore in a secondary sale to existing investors. The same report said Mesa's annual revenue and student enrolments had grown about 2.5 times over the previous year. Elevation Capital declined to comment and Limaye had not responded by publication; the round had not closed at the time of the report.
