Suhas Rajkumar is the founder and chief executive of Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based maker of electric scooters that he started in 2019. He grew up in Bengaluru and graduated in architecture from the Siddaganga Institute of Technology in 2013, according to his YourStory profile, and before Simple Energy he founded an adtech company, Exar Solutions, in 2017. Rajkumar has said the idea for the EV business came from a conversation with his father, who did not trust electric vehicles for long journeys. The company set out to address range, charging time and price, and builds much of its scooters in-house, including the motor, battery and software. Shreshth Mishra and Ankit Gupta later joined him as co-founders. Its first flagship model, the Simple One, was followed by the Simple Wave family scooter and the Simple Ultra. In September 2026 Simple Energy raised ₹1,750 crore (about $180 million) in a Series C round led by the family office of Thyrocare founder Arokiaswamy Velumani; Rajkumar and CFO Ankit Gupta also put money into the round, which took the company's total funding past ₹2,530 crore.
Simple Energy opened a manufacturing facility at Shoolagiri in Tamil Nadu in January 2023. In June 2026 it raised ₹250 crore in debt and equity led by its existing investors, followed three months later by the Series C. By then the company reported a production capacity of 10,000 units a month and more than 80 outlets across over 60 cities. Rajkumar told Inc42 that revenue reached about ₹171 crore in FY26, up from about ₹44 crore in FY25. He has said the Series C will go towards a new manufacturing facility, higher output, a wider sales and service network and the next generation of products.
