Co-founder and General Partner, WEH Ventures

About

Rohit Krishna is a co-founder and general partner of WEH Ventures, the Mumbai-based seed-stage venture capital firm he started with Deepak Gupta in 2017. He began his career in corporate bonds at Moody's and then spent close to two years as an investment banker at Spark Capital, analysing listed companies in the auto sector. In 2015, wanting to learn about private markets, he met Gupta, who was then setting up Equity Crest, a platform to help selected startups raise seed money, and helped him build it; the pair say they spoke to around a thousand companies and helped six raise their first rounds. They began seeking a fund licence and investors in late 2016, and in 2017 WEH raised ₹20 crore from high-net-worth individuals, corporate executives and bankers. Its first investment was the Indian-language storytelling platform Pratilipi, followed by bets such as Trell. Announcing WEH's ₹250 crore Fund III in September 2026, Krishna said the firm backs companies creating categories that do not yet exist, and that most of its new investments had shifted from software to the physical economy.

Krishna has described WEH as a sector-agnostic seed fund that writes small cheques at pre-seed, seed and pre-Series A stages and aims to help companies reach their Series A, after which it takes a less active role. The firm's portfolio includes smallcase, Jar, AppsForBharat and Mitigata, which he has cited as examples of category creation. WEH's team page notes that he prefers meeting founders in person over phone or video calls and spends a lot of time trying out new consumer products.
