About
Mohit Saxena is a co-founder and the chief technology officer of InMobi, the Bengaluru-headquartered advertising technology company that began in 2007 as the SMS search service mKhoj. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from IIT Roorkee, where, he has said, he trained as a materials science engineer, and his first job was at a steel plant writing factory automation software. He then moved to California to work for the telecom operator Pac Bell, which became part of AT&T, contributing to several patents in telecommunications, and later managed technology operations at Virgin Mobile, where he designed and deployed its post-paid billing system and its pre-paid revenue recognition system. He joined Naveen Tewari, Amit Gupta and Abhay Singhal, who were convinced that Asia would skip the wired internet and go straight to mobile, to build mKhoj, which shifted to mobile advertising in 2008 and became InMobi. Saxena is also named among the co-founders of Glance, the InMobi-owned lock-screen platform launched in 2019. InMobi, India's first unicorn in 2011, is now preparing for a listing in India.
