Ishan Bansal is a co-founder of Groww and its chief financial officer, responsible for the company's finance function. He graduated from BITS Pilani, holds an MBA in finance from XLRI Jamshedpur and is a CFA charterholder. His earlier career was in corporate development: he worked in that area at Flipkart and also handled corporate development and mergers and acquisitions at Naspers. In 2016 he and three Flipkart colleagues, Lalit Keshre, Harsh Jain and Neeraj Singh, left to build a simpler way for Indians to invest. Their company, Nextbillion Technology, was formed in May 2016 and launched Groww in 2017 as a direct mutual fund platform, later adding stocks, ETFs, IPOs, derivatives, loans and an asset management business bought from Indiabulls. Groww reached unicorn status in April 2021, turned profitable in FY23 and, in September 2023, passed Zerodha to become the largest broker by active clients on the NSE. In March 2024 it completed moving its domicile from the US to India by merging Groww Inc into Billionbrains Garage Ventures, which went public on the NSE and BSE in November 2025 with Bansal as one of its four promoters.
He worked in investment banking and then at Flipkart's corporate development team before co-founding Groww in 2016, where he handles finance, fundraising and corporate development — including the company's redomiciling from the United States to India.
